Holy cats, I need a nap.

Busy weekend. I worked at the store 5.5 hours on Friday night and 12.5 hours on Saturday. Then I returned to the store yesterday afternoon for a special event/demonstration, which was fun, but it really cut into my normal Sunday routine of domestic Goddess chores.

It was worth going to the demo yesterday, though, if only for my mode of transport alone. I went with a friend (also a neighbor) – she drove. If you were in the Central Park mall area in F’burg yesterday around 5:30-6:30 pm and you encountered a black mustang convertible with the top down, 2 women and 2 kids, and the sound of Led Zeppelin and Def Leppard blasting from the stereo speakers, well, that would have been us.

Now I’m here at work (the only one on time, as usual – lots of traffic on 95 north this morning, though), struggling to stay awake. I woke up from a very odd and intense dream around midnight and it took a little while for me to go back to sleep. Guess I’ll be hitting the sack early tonight.

Not much else to report, other than to say ONLY 11 DAYS AND A WAKE-UP LEFT!!!!

Not much of a weekend for you either then. I've learned that married life for me means having to run errands all of the time. hehe

So nobody can make it on time still? Unbelievable that they can keep their jobs.

The countdown is on! :)

Well, there was a lot of traffic this morning. I managed to miss the mess due to an early start time and the route I take to get here. I didn't get stuck in it at all.

Yeah, it wasn't a particularly relaxing weekend. I have quite a bit of housecleaning to do, some of which I'll do tonight - I certainly don't want to leave a nasty house for the petsitter to look at for 3 weeks, or for me to come home to a nasty house. Major chores that need to be done are cleaning my bathroom, doing the floors throughout, clearing off the kitchen table, and cleaning up the clutter in my bedroom. I figure I can get my bedroom and the floors done tonight after I get home from the gym...

That's because you are smarter than the average bear. :)

Sounds like what I said to JimmyD before our four-day wedding weekend... He asked why I was doing so much cleaning and I had to point out that a woman doesn't like her pet sitter to see a messy place and the LAST thing you want to do after coming back from vacation is dealing with cleaning.

Make sure you leave at least a few days before you leave for extra rest. That flight always wears me out bad. I was thinking about you this weekend... make sure (you probably have it covered already!) you have an itinerary printed out listing all the places you'll be and where you will be staying. Customs is pretty strict about someone going over alone, especially when they don't have friends or family there. They might even want to count your cash/check your bank account to make sure you have enough funds for your visit.

Seriously?!? Wow.

Well, I can definitely make sure I type out a list of the places I'll be staying. I've already got it all written down in a small notebook I'll be carrying with me, along with the e-mail correspondence and confirmations from the various lodging locations. Think that will suffice?

How on earth are they going to check my bank account? Are they going to have me access it online from a computer or something, or do I need to carry a recent bank or CC statement?

One would think that having a copy of my flight itinerary showing reservations for a return flight home would be good enough...

Yep, I think it's a violation of privacy but you have no choice with customs. When JimmyD came here last summer, they made him pull all of his cash out and sat there and counted it. Of course, America can be stricter but it happens going to the UK sometimes. I spoke to one woman who went to Scotland and they checked her bank account and almost didn't let her in because she was traveling alone and thought she'd just get a hotel when she got there instead of booking ahead of time. I don't want to worry you at all though! I was just thinking about it and wanted to make sure you don't get hassled. Aye it will definitely help if you have your list typed out for them along with your email confirmations. :)

I doubt that checking the bank account is very common so I wouldn't worry about that. You might get through with very few questions even. I've learned it depends on how bad of a mood the customs offical is in as it seems to be so random on what they will quiz you on. I think your list and emails should be enough. Aye you would think that your itinerary would be enough but I guess there are a lot of people who would just cancel the return flight and stay there.

So I guess if I have my flight itinerary, my lodging itinerary, copies of lodging e-mails, and plaster a smile on my face, I should be good, yeah?

Exactly! I'm always nervous going through customs (even on the way back... they just have that affect on people!) so try to smile and be VERY polite. You should be fine. :)
