THE FUCKING REFRIGERATOR IS DEAD AGAIN AND I HAD TO THROW OUT MORE FOOD THIS MORNING!! I REALLY REALLY REALLY DON'T HAVE THE TIME OR MONEY TO DEAL WITH THIS RIGHT NOW! I'M TAKING A DAY OF LEAVE AND REARRANGED MY STORE HOURS FOR NEXT TUESDAY SO A SERVICEPERSON CAN COME LOOK AT THE PIECE OF SHIT IN MY KITCHEN AND IT HAD DAMN WELL BETTER NOT COST ME AN ARM AND A LEG TO FIX IT!

Thank you. We now return you to your regularly scheduled LJ.

I'm hoping it is something simple. There might be places online with appliance advice. I guess though check the costs of a new unit because if the repair estimate is outrageous you might just want to replace the whole thing instead.

IT HAD BETTER BE- ooops, pardon me - it had better be simple, because I can't afford complicated right now.

The stupid thing is still running and making noise, but it's not keeping anything cold or frozen. It was good yesterday morning - got home from the store last night and it wasn't. W. T. F?!?!

Jeez, not only does all that suck arse, having to take a day of leave to handle it all is doubly insulting. I hope it's not expensive for you!

I swear everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING seems to be hitting me all at once.

I do, however, know better than to invoke the gawds by asking something stupid like "what else can go wrong", because believe-you-me, there's still plenty of stuff left.

AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHH.

Oh I know, never ask that!
Are you getting tax money back and/or that "tax break" check that I keep hearing about? If so, maybe that can make up for any costs a bit unless you've already planned on using that for other stuff.

Ah, yes. The tax "refund". In fact, my state refund should have hit my account last night - all whopping FIVE STINKING DOLLARS of it. I shit you not. FIVE. DOLLARS.

I'm getting a bit more back from the Fed return, but combined with the state return, it's only about a quarter of what I got back last year. I was planning to use it for my trip. Now it looks like next week, when my one-year IRA certificate matures, I'll be applying a chunk of that money to the trip and then when the highly-anticipated rebate check arrives, that will go back into the IRA account.

If I didn't have my trip to look forward to, I'd seriously be hating my life right now...

Wow, you really don't need to worry about money with that giant $5 refund. Jeez...

I owe the VA hospital money for meds so anything I get back goes to them anyways and I never see the money. I was supposed to get over $300 "back" but they snuck that nasty 10% early withdrawal fee in for 401K so I had to send the IRS a $115 check. Grrr...

Aye just focus on that as much as you can. You are going to have a great time. :-)

After hearing so many horror stories from you and others about the VA, I am determined to never have anything to do with it if I can possibly avoid it.

Damn straight I'm going to have a good time. Even if it kills me, it's going to be GREAT!!!

I try to only use it if I don't have medical insurance as it can be a horrible place indeed. The Dallas one was voted the worst one in the USA.

hehe Don't you worry, the people I met there were wonderful, very friendly and generous. I think you are going alone? If so, you won't have to worry about anyone else ruining your time which is what happened to JimmyD's sister when she vacationed with a friend about 6 months ago. They haven't spoken since!

Yep, going by myself. Yikes about JD's sis! That's one really good thing about traveling solo - I make my own schedule, see and do what I want where and when I want to. Since I'll be staying in youth hostels and backpackers' lodges, I certainly won't be lonely. But since I'll be going before the major tourist season starts, I won't have to deal with humoungous crowds, either.

Aye that sounds like perfect timing. I also like to be on my own schedule. I love traveling with JimmyD but think it would be hard with most other people.

Yeah it was her first vacation in many many years and their friend pulled her slightly-psycho act and made her miserable the entire time. I felt really bad for her.
