Busy, busy, busy...

I had 4 days off from the regular job over this past weekend, but I worked 2 of them at the store and spent 1 day running around doing errands and a trip to the vet with Boomerang. So the 4 days off turned into 1 day off. Meh.

Friday was my birthday. And before you ask, no, I didn't do a damn thing to celebrate. I got up earlier than normal on a day off, got Boomer to the vet, went to the gym, ran a few errands, picked Boomer up and got home around 5:00, totally drained of energy and cash.

Boomerang update: Neither the vet nor I have a conclusive idea as to what's wrong with him. He's lost 5 pounds since December 2006 (2 pounds since December 2007 - he started off at 15 pounds - he's a big cat). He's had several body chemistry tests done, including the expensive thyroid function test, and both chest and abdominal x-rays. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Everything's come back within normal limits. The vet thinks that it might be inflammatory bowel disease, and has put Boomer on prednisone to hopefully kickstart his intestines into gear so that they start absorbing some of the nutrients he's taking in, instead of just crapping them out.

Sigh...

F/T job is alright. Some drama that was no doubt intensified by the recent and nasty retrograde Mercury period has eased and things are quiet again, if not completely back to normal.

P/T job is chock-full of drama, which I really don't have the energy to go into right now. Suffice to say that the current assistant manager is quitting, which will be good for all of us, since she's been erratic at best lately.

I'm still getting to the gym between 2-3 times per week. It has pretty much turned into my form of "fun".

This weekend is a Highland dance festival, being put on by the Commonwealth Highland Dance Association. I'll be taking another test on Friday (fling and sword, along with demonstrations of theory knowledge). There will be competitions on Saturday (I won't be participating in those), and a workshop Sunday afternoon (which I will be participating in). I'm not working at all this weekend, which I'm pretty happy about.

Trip preparations are nearly complete. I've figured out my train and bus timetables (in terms of getting from one major stop to another). I have the Glasgow B&B information - I just need to contact them for reservations. I've gotten most of my supplies and clothing (one item left to buy), and even typed out my packing list organized by which piece of luggage the item is going into (What? Me? Anal retentive?). I've been listening to the Gaelic language CD in the car, and trying to repeat the words and phrases the narrators say. It's coming along. That's the good thing about having a 40 mile one-way commute - plenty of time to work on foreign language stuff. I plan to figure out a shopping list of things I know I want to get/look for while I'm there, so I can budget my spending money appropriately. My personal list is pretty short, but I need to look for gifts as well.

I guess that's it for now. Time for another cup of coffee. At least I get to leave early today for a dentist appointment - I have a feeling I'm going to be in bed by 8:00 tonight...

i hear that has become my biggest "social" outing of the week. the gym has become my big, fun night out. hey at we are staying healthy and getting in shape.

it sounds like you need some actual time off. fours day spent just doing what you want to do. i hope that you get some much need relaxation while you are in scotland. i think that you are going to have just such a magical and fun time there. away from all the drags you down. can't wait to hear your stories and see your pictures when you get back.

Pictures. Yeah.

I currently have 7 - count 'em - SEVEN memory sticks for my camera (one 1 GB, two 2 GB, and four 4GB). I'm going to be spamming you guys with pictures, and woe to the dial-upper. You will likely tell me JC on a bicycle, Heather, enough with the freaking Scotland pictures already!

:)

Thanks! All I have to do is not space out this time and I think it will be good - we've really been practicing during class for this, and I've been practicing on my own when I go to the gym, too (yes, I have the fling and sword music downloaded onto my iPod).
