Hump Day Happenings

Unless I hear otherwise (the "otherwise" being "you really screwed up and need to do it over"), my written Comprehensive Exams are 1/3 complete. My committee head (Dr. P.) sent me a list of questions as a word.doc e-mail attachment on Columbus Day Monday. It was sent with the understanding that I would NOT open the attachment until I was ready to sit down and answer the questions. So Saturday, after running a quick grocery errand, I sat in front of the computer at home and worked. He'd sent a list of 5 questions, with the instructions to answer 2 of them. I did, and then e-mailed my answers that evening. I got confirmation of their receipt, but no feedback on my answers at this time.
Yesterday, my other 2 committee members sent their questions for me. I opened the attachments, mainly to ensure that they COULD be opened (although neither of these members specifically said I couldn't open them). Both have 4 questions. My coastal ecology professor (Dr. K.) is asking that I provide written answers to two (and be prepared to discuss the other two orally) - he's given me two days to complete the written part. The population ecology/tropical ecosystems prof's (Dr. R.) questions are a bit more complicated - one I can use the book for (thank all the Gods - there's MATH involved), the others I can't. I need to provide written answers to 2 of the 3 remaining questions, and be prepared to discuss the last orally. He's given me 3 hours. YIKES!!!!! I wrote back and asked if he needed me to find a proctor to ensure the timeline, or if the "honor system" was in play. Lucky for me, he's good with the honor system.
I hope to get at least the coastal ecology questions answered this weekend. I have Friday and Sunday completely off, but I work Saturday morning. I figure I will get as much done on Friday as I can - I'm hoping to scoot down to Richmond for the Highland Games on Sunday, but I'm not expecting to be able to.
I still need to finish up a second draft of my MP, but I'm still waiting on feedback from Dr. K. I spoke to him on Monday and he said he'd send it soon. It didn't sound like it was too bad, so I'll continue on with my revisions and take his into account when they arrive.
Oral comps are scheduled for November 21.
I need to get to the gym, but my mind has obviously been in other places lately and I stupidly forgot to pack some essential items for that sort of activity today - namely, my running shoes and my swim goggles. If I'd remembered to pack one or the other, I'd be all set. Sigh. Guess I'll run around the block when I get home tonight.
I contacted the guy through Match that I mentioned in a previous post, and he wrote back Monday night. Says he's planning to be at the Richmond Games himself this weekend, and to stop by a particular clan tent if I'm there. Hope I can make it - I could use the distraction from schoolwork.
That's about it, I guess. Just trying to stay awake at this point, and get everything done.
