Work both sucks and blows at the moment.
Nov. 17th, 2006 12:20 pmI arrived home at 10:00 last night (closed at the store) after yesterday's deluge to happily find that the drain in my basement walk-out apparently functioned properly and I had no water in my basement whatsoever.
The same cannot be said, however, for when I got to work this morning. I took the last step off the stairs into the basement (where my section is) and heard "squish". Flooded. The back storeroom, kitchen, and a decent-sized section of that end of the basement was under about 1/3 inch of water. According to the guy from facilities maintenance, it was from the rain yesterday. It came into the building through some sort of fissure or something along the exterior wall.
So I and a co-worker spent 45 minutes swabbing the deck. I opened the windows and turned on as many fans as possible to try to dry out the carpet. A wet vac does not exist in this building. The carpet still squishes when you walk across it.
To add to the problem, the section Grave Digger is passing silent-but-OMGs-deadly gas and reeking of cigarettes at the same time. I'm about ready to go hose the fucker down with Febreze.
